Why a Home Gym Makes Sense

A gym membership costs $40–80/month. The equipment on my beginner kit list costs a fraction of that — and you own it forever. No commute, no waiting for equipment, no intimidating gym floor. You can work out in your living room at 6am in your pyjamas if that's what works for you.

The key is starting simple. You don't need 20 pieces of equipment. You need a few well-chosen items that allow you to do a wide variety of effective exercises.

• Foam Roller — recovery is as important as training. Rolling out tight muscles reduces soreness and improves mobility.
